Processed entirely on your device

Your file never leaves your device.

Thryve Compress shrinks images, PDFs, and video without sending a single byte to a server. Drop one file or a whole batch, pick a compression level, and export a smaller version in seconds. A single file downloads right away; a batch comes back as one zip.

How Thryve Compress works

  1. 1

Drop a file or a folder

Works with JPG, PNG, and WebP images, standard PDFs, and MP4, WebM, or MOV video, up to 5 GB per file. Add several at once, like a folder of photos before emailing, to compress the whole batch in one pass.

  2. 2

    Choose Light, Balanced, or Max

Light keeps the most visual quality, Balanced is the everyday default, and Max gives the smallest possible file. The level applies across the batch, with a per-file output format for images.

  3. 3

    Preview before you commit

Images and video preview straight from the source file on your device, so you know exactly what you are about to shrink.

  4. 4

    Export the smaller version

Each file is re-encoded on your device. One file downloads directly; a batch downloads together as a single zip.

Why teams choose Thryve Compress

Nothing is uploaded, ever

Images recompress via Canvas, PDFs via pdf.js and pdf-lib, and video via ffmpeg.wasm, all running inside your browser tab.

Three file types, one tool

Shrink photos, multi-page PDFs, and video clips without juggling three different apps to get one job done.

Compress a whole folder in one pass

Queue dozens of photos, PDFs, or clips, apply one compression level, and download everything together as a zip instead of one file at a time.

A free tier you can actually use

10 exports a month at no cost, counted per file. A one-time Thryve Compress Pro purchase removes the ceiling for good.

Frequently asked questions

Does Thryve Compress upload my files?

No. Every file is recompressed on your device, via Canvas for images, pdf.js/pdf-lib for PDFs, and ffmpeg.wasm for video. Only the video engine is downloaded the first time you compress a clip, and it is cached after that.

What file types can I shrink?

Images: JPG, PNG, WebP. Documents: any standard PDF. Video: MP4, WebM, MOV. Drop a file and Compress shows the controls that apply to it.

Will my PDF still have selectable text after compressing?

Yes, at Light and Balanced levels. Compress only recompresses the embedded images and leaves page text and vectors untouched, so the result stays selectable and searchable. Max level rasterizes every page into a single image for the smallest file, which does drop the text layer.

Can I compress a whole batch at once?

Yes. Drop more than one file, like 40 photos before emailing or a folder of PDFs, and Compress switches to batch mode: choose one shared compression level (plus a per-file output format for images), then compress everything with a single click. All results download together in one zip.

Is Thryve Compress free to use?

You get 10 exports a month at no cost, counted per file, so compressing a batch of 10 photos uses 10 exports. A one-time purchase removes the limit entirely.

What's the largest file I can compress?

Up to 5 GB per file. Larger files, especially video, take longer to process depending on your device.
