Does Thryve Meta upload my files to check their metadata?
No. Every file is read and scrubbed entirely in your browser using a purpose-built parser. Nothing is sent to a server, not even to check what is hidden inside it.
What file types are supported?
JPEG, PNG, and WebP images, plus PDF documents. Format is detected from the file’s actual bytes, so a renamed file is still recognized correctly.
Will scrubbing metadata reduce my image or PDF quality?
No. Meta only removes or zeroes metadata segments in the file’s structure. Pixel data and PDF page content are never re-encoded or recompressed.
Can I remove just the GPS location and keep everything else?
Yes. Choose "Remove GPS location only" to strip exactly where a photo was taken while keeping camera settings, author, and software details intact.
Is Thryve Meta free to use?
Yes. Viewing detected metadata is unlimited on every plan. Exporting a scrubbed file is capped at 10 times a month on the free plan; a one-time tool purchase or the one-time Thryve OS Pro license removes that limit.
